| Brian DeFebo Holds off Rusty Smith for third Mountain Speedway Mod Victory Brian DeFebo of Berwick, PA held off Rusty Smith of Oxford, NY to score his third modified victory of the season Sunday afternoon at Mountain Speedway. Jim Lamoreaux of Hunlock Creek notched his first late model win of the season and New Jersey’s Elliott Wohl scored his first career street stock verdict at the speedway. Jeff Biegley grabbed his fifth 4 cyl. FWD win of the year and Chris Deritis notched his second career TQ midget win. | |||||||||||||

Rusty Smith Lands in Victory Lane Following
Last-to-First Run at Mountain Speedway
Mountain
Speedway closed out the month of August on Sunday with round #5 of
the PA Asphalt Modified Championship Series. With three laps
remaining, Rusty Smith of Oxford, NY bumped Berwick’s Brian DeFebo
and went on to take the win in the 75-lap main event. Chip
Wanamaker notched his fourth street stock win of the season and
Scott Adams grabbed his seventh thriller win of the year. Ken
Kleppinger held off Robert Fink to score the 4 cyl. FWD victory.

Like the former Turkey Derby in November, the annual “King of the Mountain” at Mountain Speedway tends to bring out the “who’s who” in short track racing, and the 9th annual event will host a record nine divisions over the course of the weekend. Returns in October
Mark your calendars. On Saturday, October 25, NELMA returns to the
one-third asphalt Mountain Speedway in St. John’s, Pennsylvania for
the fourth annual NELMA Late Model Challenge. In addition to the
100-lap premier Late Model event, the Legends Cars will join the
card, providing two exciting divisions with an expected large amount
of entries.

Sundance Vacations recently teamed up with Mountain Speedway,
and in a big way. Thanks to Sundance vacations of
Wilkes-Barre, PA, this season’s PA Modified Champ Series points
champion will receive a two-bedroom villa vacation to the
Orlando, FL area during Speedweeks 2009.
