Wall Stadium, Sundance Vacations Speedway to share qualifiers for TD and KOTM

More than just being popular with tourists and as a weekend getaway for city folks, the New Jersey shore and the Pocono Mountain region of northeast Pennsylvania will have another exciting trait in common this fall, and this one will be especially appealing to race fans of open wheel Modified racing. After working together on qualifying events in 2009, race promoter Jim Morton of N.J.'s Wall Stadium, and promoter Joe Callavini of Sundance Vacations Speedway in PA, have once again agreed to share qualifying races for blockbuster year-ending events in 2010.

TJ Kapish and Ken Harper Earn Mountain Madness Victories at Sundance

Following a major downpour, round number five of the Mountain Madness Enduro Series at Sundance Vacations Speedway kicked off on Sunday. The wet and sloppy conditions didn’t seem to damper the competition however, as TJ Kapish barely edged Bill Schwenk to the stripe to earn his first career 6/8-cylinder enduro victory. Patient, smooth and fast, Ken Harper started last on the grid and worked his way to the front before lapping the entire field and taking the win in the 4-cylinder enduro.

Mike Skarbowski Emerges with First Career Sport Modified Victory at Sundance

Unseasonably high temperatures didn’t stop the drivers and fans from coming out to support the 1/3-mile asphalt oval Saturday at Sundance Vacations Speedway. In a dominating performance, Mike Skarbowski of Upper Black Eddy emerged with his first career $1000 Sport Modified feature victory. Lorin Arthofer of Bethlehem went on to claim his second straight $800 prize and Paul Morgan, Jr. of Mountaintop extended his points lead with his fourth Factory Stock victory of the season.

Pocono Drift Fest This Summer

Drifting in NEPA!!
So we are finally hosting our first drifting event at our local track. It is a slightly banked oval track that is forgiving and fun to link the turns down the straightaway. For beginners and any one not comfortable with the track there will also be a course set up using the pits. Here is a short video of Madsen and Chris doing an intermission demo. SEE VIDEO

This is a big deal to us so please come out and support. The better the turn out the greater the chances of more events and expanding paving into the infield. Dan Basala, Dug Dug, TJ Ras, Madsen, and I have put a lot of effort putting this together and the track is extremely excited to have us. So let’s show this town what drifting is about!

Modified 100-Lapper is a GO for July 31
The management at Sundance Vacations Speedway is proud to announce that the 100-lap Modified event slated for Saturday, July 31st is officially "a go".

It was previously announced that the "Drive for Five" events at the speedway were pending sponsorship and thanks to speedway Promoter Joe Callavini, the show will pay $3,000 to the winner.

To help benefit some of the under funded teams, a tire cap will be in effect for the final event in July.
Each race team will be allowed to use five tires for the feature. The five tires will be impounded for the top 15 fastest qualifiers after time trials and the drivers that make up the rest of the feature field will have their tires impounded following the consi.

Each driver will be awarded 50 championship points as long as he or she attempts to qualify through time trials. Each driver who starts the 100-lap main event will receive an additional 50 championship points.

P.A.L. Legends tire rule opened up at Sundance Vacations Speedway

With Hoosier race tire backing the Pennsylvania Asphalt Legends "Outlaw" division at Sundance Vacations Speedway for 2010, race teams that have had the opportunity to compete on the Hoosier race tire continue to rave about it. The 790 treaded tire is already showing it is both durable and reliable, but most importantly, is the fact that a set of four will cost race teams less than other "Spec" Legends car tires. Additionally, tire shaving has become the norm for Legends teams hoping to gain an edge on the competition. However, the Hoosier bias-ply 790 is fast...without the added expense and need for "camber cutting" of the current Legends radial tires.
